Though that's probably not the right welder for the job at hand.

Yeah fitting stuff is the best way to see if a jig is needed or not, the top cover and grip will give you the OAL and the smaller parts the rest. You know, I've done that exact thing with the rest of my kits but it hadn't occurred to me to try it with this one.
