Never been on pavement an is clean. I dropped the oil in the front end only to find it is clean with no metal shavings. Pulled the drive shaft an no broken coupler. "I bought my John Deere 990 new in 2006. It is a no frills, gear drive tractor. It has been reliable, economical and fun to operate. In 8 years my only problem was the battery which out gassed and corroded the terminals as did a lot of the John Deere CUTS. I installed an optima battery which solved the problem.
